The March will take place along the entire length of the High Street from the Village Centre to the War Memorial.  


The March will consist of Clergy, Veterans, family members of fallen service personnel, local schools and uniformed organisations (Cubs, Scouts, Brownies etc). Should you wish to take part please do not hesitate to contact us at poprs.contact@gmail.com


The March will muster at 10:15am 

and commence around 10:35am.


After the March has reached the War Memorial, closures 1 & 2 (as detailed to the right) will be deactivated by the TMC, thus opening the High Street for access from Ashtree Road and the its Village Centre junction.



SUNDAY 11th NOVEMBER 2018

This years Parade in Pelsall will be like no other.  This year it will have 2 distinct parts.  


Part 1 will be a March along the High Street from the Village Centre to the War Memorial, it will then muster at the War Memorial, together with the general public for part 2, The Act of Remembrance.


To ensure that the parade is conducted in a safe, secure environment for participants and attendees, POPRS have employed an approved Traffic Management Company (TMC) to facilitate the following total road closures:

  1. The High Street at the Village Centre End.
  2. Ashtree Road at its junction with the High Street.
  3. The High Street at its junction with the Norton Road.
  4. The Norton Road, north of the War Memorial, prior to the electronic pedestrian crossing.
  5. The Norton Road south of the War Memorial prior to the junction with Church Road.
  6. Chapel Street at its junction with the Norton Road.
  7. Station Road at its two junctions with the Norton Road.
  8. Station Road at its junction with Railswood Drive.

PLEASE NOTE:

CLOSURES 1 & 2 WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM 

10:00am TO 11:00am

CLOSURES 3 TO 8 WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM

10:00am TO 11:30am

FIRST AID 

POPRS have secured the services of Medical Patrol to provide first aid cover throughout the Parade.  The First Aid Point will be the POPRS red gazebo situated near the Poppy Clock.


LOST CHILD POINT

In accordance with current safety standards a 'Lost Child' point will be situated at the Poppy Clock in the village.  This will be the bright red POPRS Gazebo so it is easily visible to all.  POPRS volunteers will also be in and around the site in their ID Badges clearly visible to assist if required.


WREATH LAYING

As ever a large number of people are expected to attend the Remembrance Parade. We wanted to give all the opportunity to lay wreaths, however could we please ask you to be patient. The Act of Remembrance and the laying of wreaths follow a specific precedence protocol agreed by military organisations.


That protocol is as follows:


  • The Sovereign or Representative (if in attendance)
  • MP or Representative (if in attendance)
  • The Mayor or Representative (if in attendance)
  • Local Councillor
  • Representatives of Regular Forces
  • Representatives of Territorial & Reserve Forces
  • Representative of POPRS 
  • Veterans Associations
  • Civilian Services (Police, Fire & Ambulance)
  • Voluntary Uniformed Services (St. John's Ambulance etc)
  • Cadet Forces
  • Youth Associations (Cubs, Scouts, Guides etc.)
  • Schools
  • Pelsall Community Groups (PCA, TWG etc)
  • Members of the Public

The Act of Remembrance

The March and members of the public will muster around the War Memorial for the Act of Remembrance, commencing at 10:48.


Road closures 3 to 8 will remain active throughout this time creating a safe, secure and quiet environment for the service to be conducted, heard and for the formal laying of Wreaths.


After the service, the March will fall out and the general public will disperse.


ROAD CLOSURES 3 TO 8 WILL BE DEACTIVATED AT 11:30AM.
